Passion Week Feature: Evellyn

Passion Week Feature: Evellyn

At Passion Planner, all team members receive a “Passion Week” each year.

With paid time off and a stipend to spend on pursuing our passions, we ensure that we’re not only spreading the message of Passion Planner, but living it in our own lives.

Evellyn, our Brand Partnership Specialist, flew her family out to the East Coast for some quality time and memory making. Here’s her reflection on her most recent Passion Week.

I got the chance to spend quality time with the most important people in my life: my parents. I flew them out to my home in Boston and took them on an East Coast tour, planning our entire family trip from start to finish. Together, we explored the city, watched a Red Sox game, and ate some yummy lobster to celebrate my dad's birthday.

We later took the Amtrak to New York City. I remember my dad telling me that he'd never been on a train before so I knew I had to make it happen.

Once there, we of course saw all the touristy stuff: Time Square, The Vessel at Hudson Yards, the World Trade Center, 9/11 Memorial, and the Statue of Liberty while riding the Staten Island Ferry. The best part though? My parents later came with me to a free concert in Central Park, listening to Corinne Bailey Rae soulfully singing (girlllll) "Put Your Records On." I can't recall my parents being this cool growing up, and I'm all for it.

After, we rented a car and spent the day in Toronto, Canada. I had to overcome my fear of heights going up the CN Tower but in the end, the view was utterly breathtaking and as incredible as I imagined. We finally ended our trip taking the Maid of the Mist tour (inspired by Jim + Pam from The Office), getting up close and personal with the wondrous Niagara Falls.

My absolute favorite memory was when my family stopped by the Niagara Falls to catch the 8PM Illuminations from the Canadian side. 10 minutes before showtime, it starts *pouring* on us forcing us to find shelter under some trees and minutes later, sprinting back to the safety of our car.

We never saw the lights that evening but what we got out of it was an unforgettable, thrilling adventure that I'll tell stories of when I have kids of own one day.

A few days later, I actually caught a terrible cold but it was beyond worth it.

What would you do if given one week to pursue your passions? Whatever you choose, schedule it in your planner and commit to following through with it!
